About the Artist: Nancy Deaver
Nancy Deaver’s artistic journey began at just four years old, when she first started exploring color, texture, and imagination through chalk and other early mediums. What started as childhood curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for visual storytelling.
It wasn’t until her college years at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo that Nancy discovered the medium that would shape her signature style: watercolor. She was immediately drawn to its delicate balance of control and spontaneity — especially the challenge of preserving light within each piece. Watercolor became her language, a way to capture emotion, movement, and the quiet beauty found in everyday moments.
Over the past few years, Nancy has expanded her creative practice beyond traditional paper. She now creates custom acrylic paintings on antlers, horns, wood, and metal, applying watercolor-inspired techniques to unconventional surfaces. This fusion of mediums gives her work a distinctive softness and fluidity, even when painted on rugged or natural materials.
Nancy continues to experiment with evolving watercolor approaches, including wet‑on‑wet techniques that allow colors to flow, mingle, and surprise. Her work celebrates the harmony between intention and unpredictability — a reflection of the medium she loves and the artist she has become.
